Intro paragraph: In Mark Twain's The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Huck, the protagonist, Huck, is greatly influenced by four people: Widow Douglas, Tom Sawyer, Pap, and Jim.Body
Paragraph 1: WIDOW DOUGLAS
Widow Douglas influences Huck directly because she wants him to be civilized. By this I mean she wants him to do that right thing. And actually act like a normal kid. She wanted him to wear the right clothes, not to smoke, basically be perfect. But Huck didn’t want to because he’s so used to his old ways. Widow Douglas Influences Huck indirectly by putting a lot of right things in his mind. Well Huck ran away one day cause he couldn’t take anymore of Widow Douglas but he came back because he knew it was the right thing to do. “Take your hands away, Huckleberry- what a mess you’re always making. Pg12”
Body Paragraph 2: TOM SAWYER
Tom Sawyer influences Huck directly to be good as well as he does bad. By this I mean sometimes he tells him to the right thing. And other times he tells him to do the wrong things. Like when he wanted to start a gang when Huck ran away. He told Huck to go back home and be good and respectful. But this was kind of good kind of bad. It was good because Huck went home and Widow Douglas no longer had to worry. It was bad because Tom and Huck were starting a gang. Tom influences Huck indirectly by giving him good advice. By this I mean Tom tells Huck the right thing to do and when Huck has a problem he will remember what Tom told him. “ Go back home and be respectful an you can join the gang pg.1
Body Paragraph 3: PAP
Pap didn’t really influence Huck because he wasn’t really there for him. He only was around when he had liquor. An he only came back for Huck because he found out Huck had a lot of money. And when he found out Huck didn’t have the money anymore he became very angry. So Pap was a bad influence on Huck directly and indirectly. The only thing he was good for was influencing Huck to do bad things which isn’t right. “Say-how much money you got in your pocket ? I want it pg.16”
Body Paragraph 4: JIM
Jim influenced Huck to be a good friend an to help others other than himself. Also he taught him to believe in what’s right. And to go for what you truly believe in. But he influenced him directly when he taught him about good and bad luck. If you do good then good will happen. If you do bad then bad will happen. “ your going to have considerable trouble in your life and considerable joy pg 13”
Conclusion Paragraph: Without these key influences in his life, Huck would be a very different person.
